Italian Ice Cream on a Stick | Copenhagen

I was on the local S-train a few days ago and saw a Danish newspaper with an eye-candy photograph and a short article on Olufs, which sells homemade Italian ice cream. It looked like a delectable little place, and I know the Danes take their ice cream very seriously, so I made a point of visiting.

Beautiful, natural, homemade Italian ice cream on a stick in three sizes and tons of flavors! I enjoyed a chocolate licorice ice cream dipped in lemon white chocolate. Who can resist that? Probably one of the most unique foods I have eaten since I've been in Denmark. They reminded me of the paletas I have had (and love) in Mexico, which are frozen fresh fruit popsicles, either with fruit only or fruit mixed with cream. I should mention that the shop is at the beginning of the very charming and colorful street, which added to my experience of the senses. Peace out ;-), Sharon

In this Moment I am..

:: feeling grateful for the sunny, summertime weather and accompanying monsoons, and fabulous new friends that give me a reason to celebrate life's simple pleasures.

:: loving the way the mountain bike community welcomed me into their world by saying "good job" and "way to go, Sharon" whenever they saw me (passed me every time, damn!) on the trail.

:: appreciating my renewed sense of vitality in the midst of inconsistent people and the chaos that is sometimes around me.

:: discovering a band —new to me— called Rising Appalachia and playing them on Pandora to gently usher and coax the monsoon rains.

:: remembering how I NEED the sight and smell of fresh flowers in my favorite rooms of the house: kitchen, bedroom and the sitting room.

:: telling my myself that a grilled steak and a hot chocolate does not make a well-rounded dinner. (Okay, maybe just this once, as I did do a bike race...)

:: laughing at that.

:: wishing there was a theme editor without having to dig into the php, html, and css code of my websites.

Lastly, wishing you a very beautiful Monday evening! xo, Sharon Marzonie

Sharon's Top 10 Necessities for Travel

My husband and I are going to be traveling a lot this spring and I thought it would be a great opportunity to relay my top ten travel necessities, whether I'm camping or going abroad.
1. Sarong- use as a blanket on airline flights, a coverup over a bathing suit, or a little wrap for sleeping in.
2. The perfect walking shoes- either my Keens or Lowas, both can surely out walk me and I can hike in them too.
3. Simple accessories- hats and wristwarmers (that I've handmade and will protect me from the elements), as well as a pair of simple earrings.
4. Head lamp- I have a cute little Petzl Tikka Plus to use at night navigating the halls of the hostel or for camping.
5. Address book- for emergency calls and/or addresses for postcards.
6. Emory board- my nails always seem to get little ripples and rough edges so this way I can keep them smooth. I don't bother with nail polish.
7. Shea butter body lotion- great for face and hands, and occasionally will run through my hair to keep static cling down.
8. Lip gloss- I love Burt's Bees lip balm with pomegranate oil (and the smell is wonderful), and when I want a little more color, I use Revlon LipGlide in glazed almond.
9. Local guides and maps- such as Lonely Plant or Rick Steves, and a road atlas.
10. Chocolate bars- for when we're starving and driving each other crazy, and there's no restaurant for another 70 miles.
