30 Days of Indie Travel | What European City do I Most Want to Visit, Day 16

Drikke vin means drink wine in Danish, and this is exactly what I was doing last night which lead me to an affirmative post for Day 16. Last night's terroir-driven Mediterranean wine/olive oil/sea salt tasting event here in Charlottenlund, provided my hands down answer of Sicily! (Technically not a city, but a region/province of Italy.)

I want to meet the people and see what they are really like. While they make know how to make a meal with passion, I also want to make them a meal with equal fervor. Share some Mt Etna wines. Kick a football. Listen to their stories. Or just sit and be quiet offering friendship as best I can, hoping they know how much I appreciate giving and sharing life's many great passions. I know it will just be beautiful even if I have to wait until after 10pm to get Pasta alla Norma, then so be it.

Ten Things in June

Right now? I am reflecting this evening and feeling especially good about...

:: With more time on their hands, watching the two apprentices (Hanna and Jordan) live their passion and employ their talent for working with horses.

:: Open doors and windows.

:: The roadside wildflowers- especially the Wild Four O'clock; they're really such a fascinating flower, I love them so.

:: The memory of a lovely dinner party spent here with friends and the promise of another one, wherein I can play wine & food expert again (a favorite role of mine).

:: Heart symbols showing up somewhere every day.

:: Finding a horse nestled into its stall - as if he/she could be reading a good book.

:: The anticipation of trying a new wine with dinner tonight.

:: The promise of a book and an early bedtime this evening after I finish up the dishes.

:: The feeling of seeing that something new has grown each and every time I walk out the door.

:: The full moon Friday the 13th that I have a feeling my girlfriends and I are going to talk up, but hopefully do something (crazy event at a beach?...I'm in.) Love, Sharon

Celebrate

On a snowy Saturday afternoon, I ventured out a bit to the Chino Valley vineyards (just south of Prescott, Az) to attend my friends Ben and Juliette's wedding. From 3 until 3:30pm, I sat there among approximately 20 other friends and family happily shivering inside a rustic, Christmasy-decorated barn as they were married. I always cry at weddings, and this one was no exception: the goodness of happy tears ran down my face. I was honored to be there at this celebrating moment, but not quite expecting the amount of hope, love and joy that I carried home from that afternoon. I'm holding on to that feeling —and still holding— just as long as I can. All we need is to be loaded up with love, to be feeling it, to be chasing/falling into it, and in all manners be giving and receiving. It's so true when they say love is all you need.
